You asked why the 3rd edition of BDAG ("English Lexicon of the New Testament
and Other Early Christian Literature 3rd) is so expensive compared to
earlier editions that can be had at bargain prices. This is the apparent
reason: market economics. Compared to the earlier editions, the third
edition is (of course) updated, but on a practical note, it is SOOO much
easier to read with font changes, bolding where necessary, etc., it is well
worth the investment. Different entries under a single word are bolded,
making it easier to scan the page to find what you need. I think one wag on
this list (sorry, can'r remember who but it probably was Mark Lightman) said
he would recommend selling your first-born if necessary to get that book.
