1 Cor. 7:11

EAN DE KAI CWRISQHi

“But if she does depart”

I can not understand why CWRISQHi is translated as an Active when it is a
Passive from CWRIZW.

It seems to me that Paul is saying Christians are not to divorce their
spouses, but they can not control whether or not they are divorced by
(Passive) their spouses.

Is there any justification for translating this in an Active sense?

If not, why on earth do most translations do so!

Thank you,

Mark Wilson
