I have a tendency to believe that it was meant as you have it. It all
depends on whether you take DAIMON in its classical sense or the biblical
sense. I think that the translation like Genius is most likely the right
one. With one exception (in Acts 17:18) the NT always takes DAIMON in the
sense of a malevolent spiritual being. I just gave second rendering as
another possibility how it might be understood.
