Actually, no, Mark, it wasn't an apple. Apples don't grow too well (I am
reliably informed) in the area described as the site of the Garden of Eden.
The original account states that it was "the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil" (Genesis 2:17). Apples don't get a look-in.
An alternative view, then, is that it was a peach (Hezekiah 5:7), which is
why something attractive or desirable, whether human or inanimate, can be
described thus, as in, "That car's a real peach!"
