        Since evolution has been used in this thread as an example of a
"theory," it is worth noting that in the scientific community evolution is
no longer just a theory but a "law." That is, there is a law about
evolution in the sense that there is a law of gravity. (Perhaps
someone else can recall the organization and date of the event.)
Something else to consider in assessing the popular perception of a
"theory."
