The artists are elementary and middle school children, many of whom have spent their entire lives in refugee camps and have suffered persecution and trauma as ethnic minorities in their homeland of Burma. They have come to Chapel Hill with their families to escape the civil strife and ethnic, political and religious persecution that has existed for the past half-century and continues to persist in Burma <\/p>\n<p>An opening reception will be held May 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the UNC Student Union Gallery. Donations to the Art Therapy Institute will be accepted.
