The music video does not need to be brand new nor anything fancy \u00e2\u20ac\u201c if you have an original song and\/or an original video from N.C. artists, we welcome everyone to submit!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Applications can be downloaded at <a href=\"http:\/\/dogwood.tv\/\">dogwood.tv<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>GRANNEMAN APPOINTED TO NATIONAL THEATER COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hannah Grannemann, managing director of PlayMakers Repertory Company, has been appointed to the executive committee of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT).<\/p>\n<p>Grannemann heads PlayMakers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 administrative department, working in partnership with producing artistic director Joseph Haj. <\/p>\n<p>She will serve with representatives of theaters from coast to coast \u00e2\u20ac\u201c from Manhattan Theatre Club in New York to Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California \u00e2\u20ac\u201c to promote the welfare and growth of the nation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s professional theater scene.<\/p>\n<p>Before coming to PlayMakers in June 2008, Grannemann held key positions with two of the nation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s preeminent theater companies. She was associate managing director of Yale Repertory Theatre, in New Haven, Conn. She also served as associate producer of opening events for the new Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nFESTIFALL ARTISTS CALL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting applications from artists and vendors for the 38th Annual Festifall, to be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, on West Franklin Street in downtown Chapel Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Artists are invited to apply to showcase their artwork before more than 10,000 attendees and participate in the juried art show. Cash prizes will be awarded to the most outstanding artists. Categories include Best in Show ($300), First Place ($200), Second Place ($100) and the People\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Choice Award ($100).<\/p>\n<p>The application fee is $100 for Orange County residents or $120 for non-residents. Original three-dimensional artwork by selected artists will be displayed in outdoor public spaces in Chapel Hill from October 2010 through September 2011. You can check it out at <a href=\"http:\/\/frankisart.com\/\">frankisart.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Openings &#038; shows<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 The North Carolina Crafts Gallery is devoting its July back gallery show to a collection of beach art.<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Beaches\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is a collection of 16 different artists\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 renditions of the beach in watercolors, oils, acrylics, encaustics, enamels, mixed media and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 The results of the Beehive\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Annual Art Challenge to come up with artistic works based on The Afro will be unveiled soon at The Beehive on Weaver Street.<br \/>\nThe hairstyle-themed exhibit runs July 1-31 with an opening reception July 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. <\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2  Selected works from recent graduates of the North Carolina Botanical Garden\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Botanical Illustration Certificate Program will be featured at \u00e2\u20ac\u0153An Eye on Nature.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit at the Botanical Garden\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s new Visitor Education Center runs from July 1 to August 29 with an opening reception July 18 from 3 to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2  Susan Harbage Page will talk about her photographic exploration of the possessions left behind by individuals trying to crossover into the Southland along the Texas border at CHICLE on Sunday, July 18 at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Immigrants are often stopped by the police or border guards and asked to empty their pockets of everything non-essential. They leave behind toothbrushes, photographs, extra clothing, combs and other personal items.
