
{"id":12282,"date":"2010-09-02T08:53:39","date_gmt":"2010-09-02T16:53:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carrborocitizen.com\/main\/?p=12282"},"modified":"2010-09-02T08:53:39","modified_gmt":"2010-09-02T16:53:39","slug":"community-writing-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/carrborocitizen\/main\/2010\/09\/02\/community-writing-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Community writing competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Town of Chapel Hill\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Justice in Action Committee invites entries in the community writing competition \u00e2\u20ac\u0153How I helped build a community bridge.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The competition is part of the committee\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s program on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Healing the Wounds of Racism in Chapel Hill.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The submission deadline is Oct. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Residents are invited to write a short monologue, story, poem or song that tells how they personally were able to overcome prejudice or bridge divisions between people of different races, ethnic backgrounds, religions or sexual orientations. Examples could be stories about becoming friends with someone of another race, gaining wisdom or help from someone of a different ethnic group or working constructively with someone of a different sexual orientation.<\/p>\n<p>Competition entries will judged by Justice in Action Committee members and volunteers from the community.
