
{"id":13444,"date":"2010-10-28T13:06:46","date_gmt":"2010-10-28T21:06:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carrborocitizen.com\/main\/?p=13444"},"modified":"2010-10-28T13:06:46","modified_gmt":"2010-10-28T21:06:46","slug":"county-cuts-deal-for-downtown-library-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/carrborocitizen\/main\/2010\/10\/28\/county-cuts-deal-for-downtown-library-site\/","title":{"rendered":"County cuts deal for downtown library site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Kirk Ross<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Staff Writer<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nCARRBORO  \u00e2\u20ac\u201d A 2.9-acre parcel of land adjacent to Carrboro Elementary School could become the site of a downtown branch library, county officials announced Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioners approved a contract on the parcel, which has an easement to Hillsborough Road but sits just off the western edge of the school\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s front parking lot and baseball diamond.<\/p>\n<p>According to the contract, the county has agreed to pay $610,000 for the site. According to a statement released Wednesday announcing the contract, the county has 180 days to review the site before deciding whether to go ahead with the purchase.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We are happy to move forward in providing library services for the southern part of Orange County.
