And yes, I will tell you why\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6. The ole good news and the bad!<\/p>\n<p>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s like this. My college roommate, Bill (let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s just say it has been around 40 years), decided to Google yours truly. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153With a name like that,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d his wife said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153he might just be in there.\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>After Bill called from California and we traded impolite stories and exaggerations, I decided I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d better see what they had on me via Master Google: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Gaines Steer\u00e2\u20ac\u009d {find}.<\/p>\n<p>Honest to goodness, there are 32 references to this guy, me. At first I was elated, ego saturated. But wait a minute, what are those empirical references to me? I do hope it ain\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t my credit report.\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<p>Well, there was the pumpkin contest at a church that I wrote up for the newsletter, a quote from a rejection letter from a garden magazine and some other stuff of which I have absolutely no recollection. None. In a word, the Google references were obscure.<\/p>\n<p>What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the good news? Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t worry! What we have here is a new reality game that is not featured on the blameful TV. Here is how it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s played. The contestants Google themselves, their bosses, any politicians, former spouses, etc. and compare scores. My score is 32, beat that!<\/p>\n<p>For example: Ruffin Slater, Weaver Street Market general manager garners a Google score of 96; Kirk Ross, newspaper editor, can claim a score of 78 (from three venues); Senator Ellie Kinnaird appears to round out at a 59 score (mayor 19, senator 40). Her staff will check this for accuracy, I am certain\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the rules: entrants can claim as many venues as Google doth list. (i.e., doctor, lawyer, Indian chief). Once the Google pages of 10 begin to list both first and last names of other innocent folks, the count ends for the contestant. Get that?<\/p>\n<p>Implications galore! Ever play \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Truth or Dare?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Space does not permit\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder if I can improve my score by trying the moniker: humorist?
