Rosemary St. I do not remember the gardener\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s name, but her gracious nature and towering hollyhocks are unforgettable. In this scene directly across from the present-day Bank of America building, we are looking toward North Street. As a youth, I delivered her paper, and during the summer of 1968 she granted me this photo for Jim Shumaker\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Chapel Hill Weekly. Alas, her garden is now a parking lot, causing those readers of a certain age to perhaps recall Joni Mitchell\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 1970 environmental call to arms, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Big Yellow Taxi,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d with the lyrics: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t it always seem to go, that you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know what you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got \u00e2\u20ac\u2122til it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s gone \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 They paved paradise and put up a parking lot \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p><strong>A THOUSAND WORDS<\/strong><br \/>\nDo you have an important old photo that you value?
