Yes, alas. And we stand by, in horror and in apathy. I speak for myself in this. I earlier organized a web revolt (Yes, I am revolted!) at the fact that we Americans condone torture \u00e2\u20ac\u201c see tort.wikispaces.com. And I had planned on becoming a lot more active in promoting the revolt. But I have yet to go onto campus and distribute leaflets. What has happened?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--> Complacency, yes. How? Easy, just put it off to tomorrow. Because we know that tomorrow will bring a ban on torture by the US. Indeed, the next president of the United States will ban torture right away, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s in the cards.<\/p>\n<p>Our president has unfortunately opted to go with torture, but there is only less than a year left, not all that much time to do mischief. Poor Bush, he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s cooked. Meanwhile, the attitude is changing and we are headed to a more enlightened view of the world. At long last!<\/p>\n<p>So, all in all, times are good. And apathy sets in. For now. That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ok.
