But seven years later, in 1975, Michael (left) launched A Southern Season in a tiny store just down from Mariakakis in Eastgate \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and Chapel Hill\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s foodie community would never be the same. Not long after, Stephen joined his brother as marketing director. Stephen recalls their humble start-up, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 during the store\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s second Christmas season \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 we ended up renting a room at the Tar Heel Motel as our storage \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcwarehouse\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 we sat in that little room and put spices and teas into little ziplock bags \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I would actually sit in the bathtub to bag all that stuff for hours.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d In 1981, Stephen moved on, opening the visionary jazz supper club Stephen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, After All, which had a glorious three-year run in Village Plaza on Elliott Road. These days, Stephen splits his time between Durham and Wilmington, running his own company, goingbarefoot inc., an arts project-management services and customized entertainment planning, design and production company.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A THOUSAND WORDS<\/strong><br \/>\nDo you have an important old photo that you value?
