It takes a special kind of person and woman \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a courageous, smart and assertive one \u00e2\u20ac\u201c to tangle with the mostly male North Carolina Senate.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->I am glad that Ellie cares about the issues I care about. She has been tireless on issues of the environment, open government and working families. Just a few examples \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Ellie introduced a moratorium and tough new regulations on hog waste lagoons and stopped the southeastern states from dumping their nuclear waste in Chatham County. Ellie\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bill made one-stop early voting more convenient and, therefore, enfranchised many voters. Other achievements can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/elliekinnaird.org\">http:\/\/elliekinnaird.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ellie\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s seniority in the Senate is important to our interests. Ellie is ranking member of the Appropriations\/Base Budget committee and co-chair of the subcommittee on Justice and Public Safety, one of the largest parts of our state budget.<\/p>\n<p>Sen.
