
{"id":26086,"date":"2012-05-24T12:08:46","date_gmt":"2012-05-24T16:08:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carrborocitizen.com\/main\/?p=26086"},"modified":"2012-05-24T12:08:46","modified_gmt":"2012-05-24T16:08:46","slug":"letter-balance-interests-of-dual-language-fpg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/carrborocitizen\/main\/2012\/05\/24\/letter-balance-interests-of-dual-language-fpg\/","title":{"rendered":"LETTER: Balance interests of  dual language, FPG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While I\u00c2\u00a0am a parent whose children neither\u00c2\u00a0attend FPG nor are enrolled in a dual-language program, the recent media coverage prompted me to read the dual-language report to learn more.\u00c2\u00a0I was surprised and somewhat saddened to learn that the school board is seriously considering dismantling a 50-year-old school that is already advancing the goals set forth by the district.<\/p>\n<p>While I applaud the school system for using dual-language programs to close the achievement gap, it defies logic that the system would target a school that is already closing the achievement gap, even with some of our most vulnerable students.
