
{"id":2719,"date":"2008-06-05T06:22:12","date_gmt":"2008-06-05T14:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carrborocitizen.com\/main\/?p=2719"},"modified":"2008-06-05T06:22:12","modified_gmt":"2008-06-05T14:22:12","slug":"chatham-extends-building-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/carrborocitizen\/main\/2008\/06\/05\/chatham-extends-building-ban\/","title":{"rendered":"Chatham extends building ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>by Catherine Rierson<\/strong><br \/>\nStaff Writer<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Last week the Chatham County Board of Commissioners approved a six-month extension to the development moratorium to complete several major land use ordinances.<\/p>\n<p>The moratorium expires  December 2, and applies only to residential developments with at least 26 residential lots.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe extension allows time for revising the subdivision regulations and environmental review standards.<\/p>\n<p>The Subdivision Subcommittee of the Planning Board will prepare a review process for major subdivisions, incorporating environmental standards, low-impact design standards and requirements for developers to meet with local residents before submitting applications.<br \/>\nIn January, the board of commissioners established criteria requiring developers to provide environmental assessments.<\/p>\n<p>The effective date of the amendments has been postponed to allow time to develop more detailed standards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Catherine Rierson Staff Writer Last week the Chatham County Board of Commissioners approved a six-month extension to the development moratorium to complete several major land use ordinances.
