She has five years of teaching experience and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UNC and a master\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s degree in secondary social studies from Wake Forest University.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nEriksen received $1,000 from Sun Trust Bank and will represent the district in regional and state competition during the upcoming school year.<\/p>\n<p>Bert Wartski of Chapel Hill High and Karen Reid of Morris Grove Elementary were also named as honor teachers and received a $500 award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathryn Eriksen, a social studies and AVID teacher at Carrboro High School, has been named the 2009-10 Teacher of the Year by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.
