
{"id":6205,"date":"2009-06-15T06:21:45","date_gmt":"2009-06-15T14:21:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carrborocitizen.com\/main\/?p=6205"},"modified":"2009-06-15T06:21:54","modified_gmt":"2009-06-15T14:21:54","slug":"schools-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/carrborocitizen\/main\/2009\/06\/15\/schools-out\/","title":{"rendered":"School&#8217;s out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last week of school was a whirlwind from one end of the district to the other as fifth-graders spruced up for their first graduation and high schoolers prepared for this weekend\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s commencements.<\/p>\n<p>The end of the classes came shortly after noon on Wednesday.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAt Carrboro Elementary School that was immediately apparent to anyone within shouting distance.<br \/>\nStudents rushed to their buses and screams of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hallelujah\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll miss you\u00e2\u20ac\u009d were heard above the roar of general excitement from the last day of school.<\/p>\n<p>They stopped long enough to hug their teachers one last time before shrieking as the bus engines started.<\/p>\n<p>The teachers were concerned the students wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be able to hear them break into song as the buses took off, but all around the area enjoyed their rendition of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye\u00e2\u20ac\u009d as a farewell to the school year. (see photo at right)<\/p>\n<p>As high schools wound down this week classrooms became barer each day with students finishing up their final exams while seniors roamed the halls for the last time.<\/p>\n<p>Graduation exercises take place at the Dean E. Smith Student Activities Center on Saturday.
