Born June 17, 1925 in Egypt, she was a long-time Chapel Hill resident.<\/p>\n<p>Miggie enjoyed painting with watercolors and making sketches, she was an avid gardener and was to be president of the Chapel Hill Kiwanis Club in the coming year.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>She spent her professional career working with children with autism at UNC\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s division TEACCH. She supported her husband Eric Schopler for 35 years, helping to make a major impact on the diagnosis, treatment and care of autistic children.<\/p>\n<p>Survived by first husband, Cornelius Lansing; daughter, Jennifer Stever; son William Lansing; stepchildren, Susan, Robert, and Thomas Schopler; grandchildren, Jesse Stever, Megan Darnaby; great- grandchildren, Victoria, and Madelynn; extended Schopler\/Renkow family, Scott, Samuel, Eric, Rosie, Timothy, Daniel, and Justin; and her trusted companion \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Bingo\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the border collie.<\/p>\n<p>Memorial Services to be announced.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers please send donations to: Chapel Hill TEACCH Center, CB #6305 University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-6305 or Piedmont Wildlife Center, 364 Leigh Farm Rd.
