Chapel Hill residents Paul and Susan Shareshian are the new owners.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We believe the Varsity is a historic landmark in Chapel Hill, and we were sad when we heard it was closing,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Susan Shareshian said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We decided we would reopen it and take it back to a time where movie going was a destination.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Former owner Bruce Stone closed the Franklin Street mainstay this summer due to declining ticket sales.<\/p>\n<p>The Varsity will show recently released and classic movies and all tickets will be $3.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Classic movies mean different things to different people, depending on your age and generation, so we will have a variety,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Shareshian said. She mentioned classics such as <em>Gone with the Wind<\/em> or John Hughes\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 movies and also Saturday morning cartoons.<\/p>\n<p>Renovations are underway and there is a plan to add a room for children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s birthday parties.
