
{"id":9538,"date":"2010-03-25T11:58:00","date_gmt":"2010-03-25T19:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carrborocitizen.com\/main\/?p=9538"},"modified":"2010-03-25T11:58:33","modified_gmt":"2010-03-25T19:58:33","slug":"unc-trees-are-topic-of-exhibit-lecture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/carrborocitizen\/main\/2010\/03\/25\/unc-trees-are-topic-of-exhibit-lecture\/","title":{"rendered":"UNC trees are topic of exhibit, lecture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UNC New Services<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trees at UNC are the subject of a new exhibit that guides visitors across campus and back through time.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Noble Trees, Traveled Paths: The Carolina Landscape Since 1793\u00e2\u20ac\u009d will be on view in the North Carolina Collection Gallery of Wilson Library through May 31.<\/p>\n<p>The free public exhibit presents photographs, drawings and publications that document campus trees and landscapes from the university\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s earliest days through the present.<\/p>\n<p>Inspiration for the exhibit came from the 2009 book The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Noble Grove: A Walking Tour of Campus Trees by Michael Dirr, professor emeritus of horticulture at the University of Georgia.<br \/>\nDirr will lead a walking tour of the Carolina campus on April 22 at 3:30 p.m., leaving from the front steps of Wilson Library.
