{"id":5725,"date":"2012-05-03T10:30:28","date_gmt":"2012-05-03T14:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/carrborocitizen\/mill\/?p=5725"},"modified":"2012-05-10T15:40:51","modified_gmt":"2012-05-10T19:40:51","slug":"carrboro-spirit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/carrborocitizen\/mill\/2012\/05\/carrboro-spirit\/","title":{"rendered":"Carrboro Spirit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May is typically a month of flowers, graduations, celebrations, mothers and strawberries \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and of North Carolina\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s primary elections, which in many years go by without so much as the raise of an eyebrow from a good chunk of our state\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s population. <!--more-->But this year, unless you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been hiding under a rock (and yes, some of you probably have been), you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve no doubt heard the conversation surrounding a certain ballot item that would place an amendment in the state constitution defining marriage as only between a man and a woman. <\/p>\n<p>Throughout our community, events that typically focus simply on food, art or music have taken a decidedly political focus of late, more specifically, a sharp stand against Amendment One.
