That's about how much time a reader in the industry is going to give you once you start marketing your script. After that, if you haven't "hooked" your reader, that huge pile of scripts on the reader's desk begins to look very inviting.
So as you sit down to write - and actually I already have written the hook of our sample concept as a forest person - remember how important it is that you get started with a bang.
"Bang" does not mean "loud" - bang in this context means "with a dramatic bang," with a moment that immediately throws us into the story, or something related to the story, that grabs our attention so we will not be getting up five minutes into the movie to go get popcorn.
Forest people may also want to read what I say about hooks for tree people.
