Jonathan stays up late one night at his computer, but is unable to even begin his story. He finally goes to bed but cannot sleep until he is visited by Blue (though Jonathan doesn't see Blue). Jonathan dreams something symbolizing the fact that he has no inspiration. He sees Blue in the dream. Jonathan sleeps in the next day, missing class, and then goes over to the office for the literary magazine that he writes for. Heather, a girl at the office, tells him that his story is due in less than a week. Jonathan returns to his room and sits at his computer, staring at an empty document. He has a waking dream about going to a party. He sees Blue there. His roommate, Sean, snaps Jonathan out of his reverie and tells him of a party that night. Jonathan goes to the party and just sits on the couch. It is exactly like the party he dreamed about, except Blue is not there. Depressed, he crashes on the couch. Jonathan dreams that he is at a club. Blue is there. He asks her who she is and she only tells him her name. Intrigued by her secrecy, Jonathan asks her if he can write a story about her. She says he can if he wants to, and implies that things might happen as a result of the story. The next day, Sean wakes Jonathan up and they drive back to campus. On the way back, they pass a club that has the same name as the club from Jonathan's dream. Jonathan goes back to his dorm and begins his story. Blue is the main character. He works on it until late at night and falls asleep at his computer. Jonathan dreams that he goes to the club. Blue is there. He tells her about his story so far, and she says that he should write himself in as a character. The phone ringing wakes Jonathan up. It is Heather, the girl from the literary magazine. She asks him if his story is finished yet. He makes a lot of cryptic comments and Heather thinks he is drunk. She hangs up on him. Jonathan writes himself into the story in a scene where he meets Blue at the club. That night, he goes to the club and finds Blue there.
