Scholarships are available for participants attending the Direct Marketing Training for Farm Profitability: For Cooperative Extension and Other Agricultural Professionals training workshop. This workshop will be offered as a pre-conference event and within the program of the annual Future of Our Food and Farms Summit in both 2002 and 2003. The purpose of the workshop is to increase knowledge, skills, and resources for agricultural professions who work with Mid-Atlantic region farmers and their communities in off-farm direct marketing.
The Direct Marketing Training Scholarships are valued at up to $150 each. Most of the funds will be used to defray the workshop registration fee; however, a small percentage of the funds can be allocated to out of town participants to help defray lodging expenses. Scholarship-eligible participants include extension agents, state departments of agriculture personnel, USDA personnel, and other agriculture professionals. Scholarship winners are required to attend three sessions on December 5th and participate in the training evaluation procedures to receive funding.
The primary criterion for awarding the scholarships will be the applicant's responsibility for farmer training.
