USS Condor II (YMS-192/AMS-5)

A large vulture found in the high Andes.


YMS-192 was laid down at Greenport Basin & Const. Co., Greenport, N.Y.; launched 5 December 1942; completed 13 June 1943.

YMS-192 was reclassified AMS-5 and renamed Condor on 18 February 1947. Condor was reclassified MSC(O)-5 on 7 February 1955.

On 18 March 1955, Condor was transferred to Japan, where she served as Ujishima (MCS-655) until retired. YMS-192 was struck from the Navy list 31 March 1967.
