LCI(G)-558 was built at New Jersey Shipbuilding Corp., Barber, N.J.; and commissioned 22 February 1944.

During World War II, LCI(G)-558 was assigned to Flotilla Six, Group 16, Division 31 of Amphibious Force, Pacific Fleet. The ship participated in the landings at Leyte, P.I. on 20 October 1944, Lingayen Gulf 4-18 January 1945, the landing at Nasugbu, P.I. 31 January-13 February 1945, and the assault and occupation of Okinawa 25 March-24 June 1945.

After the war, LCI(G)-558 was declared surplus and sold to the Netherlands East Indies 22 May 1946.

LCI(G)-558 was awarded four battle stars forrld War II service.
