Could a cogniscenti [a REAL cogniscenti, with numbers and facts rather than
opinions they do not wish to provide supporting data for]; comment on the
nutritional value - or more correctly - the health challenge of chicken
meat
and eggs if fed various rations as compared to harvesting their own greens
and insects.
My understanding is that meat/eggs off "concentration camp" chooks, as
compared to the naturally reared ones are deficient in EPA/DHA[eg C22:6];
Arachidonic acid; Cysteine; Vitamins A and E, Lecithin and Choline.
In particular my studies lead me to believe that the eggs off
"concentration
camp" chooks are highly deficient in n-3 Fatty Acids, and constitute food
with highly health-hazardous n-6:n-3 ratios over 10; as compared to being
as
highly health-beneficial as the values near 1 found in naturally raised
chooks.
I am gaining more and more the impression that Industrialised Agriculture
of
flesh produces foodstuffs toxic or at least less beneficial to human health
than Natural Agriculture [what I would term Sustainable Agricilture(*)].
The latest example : Spending extra, on occasional Salmon Fillets to enjoy
the health benefits of Omega-3 Fatty Acids ? Think again. While the Omega-3
Fatty Acid content of naturally raised Salmon fillets may range around
4.5%,
Farmed Salmon [kept in "concentration camp" cages and forced to eat an
unnatural grainbased diet] - the fillets most likely on sale in your
stores - DO NOT MAKE IT EVEN TO 1% Omega-3 Fatty Acid content.
Might not the trend to grains becoming the basis of protein production -
especially in unnatural climates and geographies where where natural
feeding
not be possible - be one of the most potent Anti-Sustainable forces
presently buffeting our Quality of Life and Gaian Sustainability ?
