Yes I started writing this yesterday but ..... here it is now.
My feeling is that Bob makes a good unit and we were interested in buying
one. I did a full costing including all new parts, pumps, plumbing and a
very modest allowance for our own labour - the cost was into the thousands.
Differently a lot less than the Worm Gold unit but still very pricey and
not tested as a complete unit.
For those people with the time, contacts, mechanical inclination .... to
build their own machine then Bob's will deliver the aeration.
I believe that many people buying these machines will rely on them.
Homemade machines with second hand pumps , patched together with stuff
found around the farm, can and do fail at the most inopportune times. We
decided to build a strong, clean machine using top notch reliable parts.
Our Tea-riffic® 100 gallon machine US$2999
Bob's - completed with new parts approx. US$2500 plus our time
Earth Tea US$3750
Worm Gold US$6500 includes R/O unit
This is note a complete list but the point I'd like to make is that there
is a range of products that will work well. The industry is growing to
allow consumers to choose options and price points to suit their needs.

>Hi Laura The reason I have not quoted price of tank and plumbing is that
I found users wanted to select their own size tank and often had their own
pump-out system. The Bob's brewer permitted such a wide range of sizes
customers were better off choosing their own. .
>On averagge the tanks cost about $1.00 per gallon new. Often less to free
as recycled food shippers. The pump out system with suitable plumbing to
load applications systems will run from $ 100. + - 50.
>Freight to get the Bob's delivered is enough to bring the bob's up to
approx $ 700.
>The Bitti - rated at 5 to 30 gallons is being sent out now at $ 165. The
30 gallon tank I sent with it cost $ 10.00 and the pump-out cost $ 57.00 I
furnish neither the tank nor the pump normally because the customer has or
can find those items in their favorite local hardware store. In the
smaller size no pump is needed.
>But as a surprise I have been including some of our marvelous Ground Up
compost that tested 1500 bacteria and 2100 fungi last time at SFI - and I
mix equal amounts of Jeffs famous Alaska Humus and use that for packing.
Enough for 2 to 4 runs depending on the size of the batch. Or better, I
think, would be to mix that with their own compost, let it blend and add
diversity as well as quantity.
