I agree that the gross generalizations about nationalities should be avoided.
I didn't appreciate the crack about typical Americans always pushing
products. I don't think there really is a typical American, and most of us
aren't salesmen.

There are only one or two people on this list that push product without being
asked by someone about their product. If you have a problem with a person
doing that, ask Jeff privately about doing something about that person.
Perhaps they just need to realize that the product pushing is not
appreciated. Or perhpas Jeff can help you see that the "product pusher" was
responding to a clear question about their product. Or they were asked a
question that their product would work for.

But it is clear and straightforward communication that is needed. No
sniping. Do not degrade someone who disagrees with you, or has an alternate
point of view. They have a reason for their views, and to move ahead, we
need to share those views, not be rude about a different point of view.

If anyone doesn't like me talking about how to take samples, or how to
measure microorganisms in tea, please express that opinion to me directly. I
will likely respond by saying that I don't often push doing work with SFI,
unless directly asked how something should be measured. But if I'm being too
blatant, I'll do my best to stop. Just please, let me know.

I can be dense and blind about things sometimes, and instead of someone
stopping communication with me, I need to have things explained to me.

OK?
