ORGANIC MARKETER - THAILAND
LOCATION: Bangkok DURATION: 6 months
DESCRIPTION The Alternative Agriculture Network in Thailand has
developed in the past few years from a focus on the production of organic
rice, vegetables, fruit and medicinal herbs to the establishment of a
marketing system for this produce. A decentralized system has yielded a
multiplicity of symbols of certification, packaging, labelling, displays and
outlets. The existence of a government-sponsored <pesticide-free>
labelling programme and of branded organic produce from the private
sector (some of it imported and often without external inspection) is
leading to widespread consumer confusion. Green Net, the leading
marketing agency of the Alternative Agriculture Network, has requested
assistance from CUSO in the form of a professionally qualified and
experienced volunteer. The volunteer will survey the current and
potential range of products and promotional materials throughout the
country and the local capacity for packaging, printing, etc. The volunteer
will then develop a public image for the Alternative Agriculture Network
of Thailand that can be used in labelling, packaging and displaying its
produce (organic food, medicinal herbs, handicrafts, publications, etc),in
promotional materials (signs, posters, banners, T-shirts, etc) and in
public events such as the Alternative Agriculture Fair. QUALIFICATIONS;
