During the middle school years, student's life-long attitudes toward education are often formed. The staff at the middle school therefore works to help each student develop intellectual rigor and discipline. During these years, students also gain an appreciation of the variety of cultures and perspectives offered by other students and teachers.
The middle school curriculum develops skills in English, mathematics, science, social studies and French. These are essential preparations for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Examinations which can be taken in the ninth and tenth grades, and for the International Baccalaureate program in grades eleven and twelve.
The teaching methods stress the practical application of the work learned. Publishing creative writing, doing science practicals, applying mathematical concepts, using primary sources and interviews for social studies research tasks are all encouraged. These prepare students well for advanced studies.
