Because of the transient nature of much of the student body, it is important to provide an education in a warm, supportive environment for students of all nationalities. The teachers are dedicated to providing such an environment and pay a great deal of attention to the student as an individual. This means that students have the opportunity to develop self-confidence, self-respect and a sense of personal identity. They are also taught to work cooperatively in groups, to respect the rights and needs of others, and to accept responsibility for their own behavior.
In an international environment, we feel that the above concerns are a sine qua non for fruitful academic progress. If children are to be able to fit into other communities or adapt successfully to their own national systems, they must be well-versed in the basics, be attentive, open-minded, self-reliant and see a task through to its completion.
In an international environment with such diversity of cultures, where students regularly come and go, the staff communicates the need for mutual tolerance and understanding.
Because the school is at the heart of of the international community, it wishes to continue its strong tradition of parent and teacher involvement in school affairs.
The faculty itself also reflects the international character of the school. The teachers represent 20 nationalities and are our great strength. All are committed to working with students. Each has professional expertise and several have been influential in developing key ideas and programs for international educational conferences.
More than 40 nationalities are represented. Because many students come from the families of the diplomatic or the international business community, the average stay at the school is three to four years. An increasing number of students are French or come from families who reside permanently in Paris.
