FINAL EXAM
Dec. 7, 2000: 8 AM – 12 PM
Note: order of student presentations will be given in writing at 8 AM.

The student should demonstrate in the final design review that he or she is able to carry a complex design project and propose a solution at the schematic design level.

The student will be graded after presenting the following material:


DIGITAL FINAL

1. DIGITAL PROJECT DOCUMENTATION: BOOKLET

1A.  Two copies of a booklet the contain the following information about your project.  NOTE: One copy will be pined-up in the wall and another given to the reviewers.
- At least two Printed Elevations (min.), two Printed Sections(min.), and all floor plans (min.) 
- One section or perspective section showing your structural idea (min) 
- More than 8 printed Perspectives that show your digital model (min) 
- One page of program and clear drawings showing program distribution 

1B.  Selected (2 or more) large prints of your project. 

2.   PRESENTATION 
The objective of the digital presentation is to show your project in approximately 8 minutes. You will not be allowed to speak in the first half, therefore prepare accordingly.  You can choose to present the project without speaking, after all architecture is “speechless” and projects have to stand on its own.  You have to introduce the A. location of your design, B. your concepts, C. design, architectural effects, D. program and E. structural concept. 

Use panoramics, animations, audio or any other techniques that helps you involve the audience in understanding not only the architectural form but the atmosphere of your project. If you use animations or panoramics please let the audience know where you are located in floor plan. Your "real-audio" presentation will be viewed at the same time by people in some of the participating schools in the Internet Studio, you will receive coments via chat.

3.  12-15 JPGS & AVI FOR “STUDENT WORK LOOP”
Bring at 8.30 AM the day of the exam your best 12-15 JPGS and AVI files of the semester.  This images will be displayed in a continuous loop during the final review.
Place images in the FINAL-D7 folder in the machine indicated by the instructor.
PLEASE FOLLOW THIS DIRECTIONS: Name your files as following: your LASTNAME01, LASTNAME02, etc.  Example: andia01.jpg, andia02.jpg, andia.avi, andia.gif, andia05.jpg, andia06…andia09.avi, andia10.jpg, andia 11.jpg and so on…

4.  CD-ROM 
Burn a CD-ROM with all your JPG, AVI, GIF, etc files used during the semester.  Include in a different folder a mirror of the work you have in your site.  I expect to get an FIU account in the future and would like to move your work into that account. 

5.  FINAL WEB PAGE
Link to your web page in the Dec. 7 link a Final Web Page Presentation.  INCLUDE A REAL AUDIO FILE IN YOUR FINAL PRESENTATION THIS WILL ALLOW REVIEWERS VIA CHAT PARTICIPATE IN THE FINAL.


ANALOG FINAL

1.  ANALOG PROJECT DOCUMENTATION 
- Final model and/or section model at 1/16”:1 and/or 3/32" : 1’ 
- Full set of plans, sections, elevations printed to scale in large format
- Full set of plans, sections, elevations printed to scale in large format
- One section showing structural idea (min.)
- Perspectives

2.  PRESENTATION
You will present your project in 8 minutes, you should use large print material and model to guide the audience.  You can also use work in JPG format and display it via the video projector.

3.  STUDENT WORK LOOP
You will provide between 10 –15 jpgs files for the “Student Loop”.  See information in "DIGITAL FINAL", item 3.

4.  FINAL WEB PAGE
You will be required to create web pages that document your final presentation.  The pages can be very simple.  The idea is that they document your final presentation.
