Re: [compost_tea] white mites? on gardenias
Hi Charlie -
You want to get a set of bacteria and fungi into the tea that take care of the mite. Or aphids. Similar mechanism for both.
Find some Beauveria. Add to the tea brew AT THE BEGINNING. The fungi have to be germinated and growing for them to be effective. Call Bruce Elliott is you can't find any locally.
You want to get a product from Holmes Enviro, called Galaxy, which contains a good diversity of the really beneficial bacterial species, two of which will make the leaf surfaces repugnant to the aphids and mites.
If they don't work (always have before), PLEASE tell me, so I'll start working again on things that will add to the arsenal.
OK?
