HI . . .
Pinxter-flower, one of our magnificent wild azaleas, doesn't get it's
name from its pink color. To learn the derivation of "pinxter"--and a
lot more, visit the Web site for Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont
Natural History.
The photo essay on Pinxter-flower is under "This Week at Hilton Pond"
for the Week" of 8-14 April 2002; just click on
http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek020408.html .
There's also the usual list of banded and recaptured birds, including
more returning Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.
Please don't forget to forward this message to folks who share our
interest in nature. :-)
Happy Spring, and Happy Nature Watching!
BILL
