Killdeer nest

In case anyone is interested, there is a Killdeer
sitting on a nest of 4 eggs in an "island" of the
parking lot of my church.
The nest is in a great place to be observed,
especially if you are with kids, because the bird is
rather unperturbed by cars, yet so close to the
pavement, you can drive right up and watch for a while
without really ruffling her feathers.

Here's a question - I know these birds survive quite
well without any help from us, but does anyone have
any thought as to whether or not I should put some
source of water nearby? If so, how close to the nest?
Would it perhaps attract other animals that might harm
the nest?

The church is located across the street from the
southern end of Rock Quarry Road, on Old Garner Road,
halfway between Garner and Clayton. (NC)
(Mt. Moriah Baptist Church)
If anyone wants specific directions to the nest or
better directions to the church, e-mail me personally.
