It might be mentioned that this bird was in pocosin habitat (or
immediately next to such habitat). By pocosin, I mean a poorly drained
area with pond pines and a thick cover of shrubs, most of which are
broadleaf evergreens. In 1997, I observed oversummering Black-billed
Cuckoos on the mainland of Dare County--they were in similar habitat.
Likewise, a late June Black-billed Cuckoo I observed in Onslow County in
1993 was in similar habitat.
