Curtis Creek

Carolinabirders:
Our Curtis Creek Venture on 9/19/99 and last day-trip of the year was a
beautiful fall day here in the somewhat dry North Carolina mountains. The
birding was rather erratic, with birds being absent from large areas, but
highlights included the following:

Bay-breasted (2), Cape May (5), Palm (1), Tennessee (lots) Warblers
Broad-winged Hawk (113) Great views of migrating birds
Red Crossbill (5 males , 1 female) Outstanding views from all angles.
Red-headed Woodpecker (1)
*An excellent selection of tanagers, grosbeaks, etc.
*Watching a Marbled Orb spider spinning away.
*Monarch migration in full swing and close-ups views of Grey Hairstreaks and
other butterflies

Our 2000 calendar is still being worked on, but the provisional copy is
available. Please let me know if you would like a copy. Our California trip
is full, but there are 2 spots open on our Galapagos trip this November.
Otherwise, see you at the CBC meeting in Charleston,SC this weekend.
