Well, I wasn't going to report this, because it was a 'heard only'
experience, but here goes.  Yesterday (9/21/99), while walking for exercise
on the trail around the Duke Golf Course (Durham, NC), I heard the sort of
wheezy call note that I usually identify with White-throated Sparrows in
hedgerows in the winter.  I was moving fast (for me) with a friend and
could not stop to investigate, but the location is a favorite hangout for
WTSPs every winter.
