Actually, RBNU's are an irruptive species. Some winters they don't come
this far south at all, while others they might go considerably further
south than here. This winter, they seem to have started moving early,
probably indicating that they will occur pretty far south. I'll have to
take a stab at getting one for my Florida list...
Missed out on both the hurricane and the Big Sit due to a friend's
wedding in Pennsylvania. The wet weather extended far enough up the coast
that we didn't bother stopping at Bombay Hook or anywhere like that on
the way home. Did see a few birds during the (outdoor) ceremony, most
notably (ominously?) a Turkey Vulture, and found a wedding salamander
(Red-backed, Plethodon cinereus) for the couple during the reception.
That's a good omen, isn't it?
