I have every known seed on the market, plus homemade biscuits dripping with
shortning, and we have had two Carolina Wrens and a pair of Juncos in the
last several days. We have also had a huge red-tailed hawk that has gotten
a couple of stray pigeons in the last few weeks. No cardinals, no
blue-jays, one white-br. nuthatch and one little downy woodpecker. The yard
is uncommonly quiet. I miss those little sounds of nature.
And for those of you interested, the Lower Neuse Bird Club will be meeting
next Tues., Nov 16, 7:30 PM at the Session house of the First Pres. Church
on New St. in downtown New Bern. Brad Carlson will be the speaker. Looking
forward to hearing him, especially after the bear story. I have birded
Chicod Creek with John Wright and it was magical.
