Re: Amazing Birding Sights

In 1994 on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, my wife and I walk the trail
near the beach. She spotted a heron if flight with a "strange growth" on
its beak. It alighted near us, but when we crept closer, it flew several
hundred yards on down the beach. This cycle continued, until finally, we
were able to get close enough for a good look. It was a snake, coiled the
full length of the beak! Standing on the beach, the heron began swinging
its head in a circular motion and succeeded in unwinding the snake, which it
then tossed into the air and caught on the way down, head first, and
swallowed with several big bulgy-eyed gulps.

Somebody please tell me they have seen the same thing, so I can share the
strange looks I get with you. Thank you.
