Glaucous gull at Fort Fisher

A first-winter Glaucous gull was seen on two separate occasions
Thanksgiving weekend at Fort Fisher by Kate Bruce and Mark Galizio. Both
sitings were between crossovers 2 and 3 on the 4-wheel drive road south of
the aquarium. On one occasion the bird was on the beach, and on the other
it was located on the sand flats on the sound side. Do not attempt to drive
this area in anything other than a high clearance 4-wheel drive vehicle.
Birders who lack such a vehicle may park at Fort Fisher and walk 2-3 miles
to reach the area.
