Hi Tom,
I just recently bought Swift Viceroys, a roof prism model which is 10 X 42.
Why I like them?
1. bright-I think as bright as those more expensive german made jobs.
2. Light weight-a mere 23 ounces. They were so light I once opened my trunk
to get the bins and found out I was already wearing them.
3. Close focusing down to 6 ft-good for doing butterflies too.
4. My previous bins were also Swift and held up very well.
5. Cost-While Swift suggests a list price of $690 I got them at Eagle
Optics for about half that price.-
6. This is a purely subjective reason, related to cost.
Consider this! with the savings over those expensive German brands you
could be well on the way to a birding trip somewhere that will bring you
50-80 life birds. Many more birds then whatever minimal advantage the
German bins might have.
6. They came highly recommended by Barbara Maxwell, a classy lady whose
opinion I value highly.
