After having no evening grosbeaks at our feeders last year, and none thus
far this year, I didn't seem very credible in telling the family that they
would miraculously appear on Christmas day as a present from Santa to me. I
suffered much ridicule as I watched the feeder throughout the morning,
waiting. When suddenly, out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I rose
from my seat to see what was the matter...a small flock of EVENING
GROSBEAKS! gobling down the sunflower seeds! We had 7 females for an hour
or so, before they disappeared. Thanks, Santa! ;-)
