Aah.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the local library last month, I picked up <a href=\"http:\/\/2-tone.info\/2tone.pl?show146&#038;\">a Specials CD<\/a>. I own <a href=\"http:\/\/2-tone.info\/artists\/the_special_aka.html\">the first two Specials collections<\/a> on LP as well as a bunch of other <a href=\"http:\/\/2-tone.info\/\">Two Tone<\/a> bands, but since CDs have come out I listen to LPs less and less. Tucker, our 13 year old, really started getting into the Specials and <a href=\"http:\/\/2-tone.info\/artists\/madness.html\">Madness<\/a> once he took the library&#8217;s CD and vanished into his room with it.<\/p>\n<p><em>My wife and my kids, they are packed up and leave me.<br \/>\nDarling, she said, I was yours to be seen.<br \/>\nPoor me, the Israelite. Aah.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Next  I pulled some first generation ska CDs in particular the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skatalites.com\/\">Skatalites<\/a> which are mostly instrumental. From there I went into my <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Desmond_Dekker\">Desmond Dekker and the Aces LP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\nShirt them a-tear up, trousers are gone.<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t want to end up like Bonnie and Clyde.<br \/>\nPoor me, the Israelite. Aah.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmonddekker.com\/\"><br \/>\nDesmond Dekker<\/a> didn&#8217;t end up like Bonnie and Clyde or even like his friend Bob Marley. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/05\/27\/arts\/music\/27dekker.html\">He had several rough rides<\/a> but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jamaica-gleaner.com\/gleaner\/20060526\/ent\/ent10.html\">was struck down by a heart attack this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>After a storm there must be a calm.<br \/>\nThey catch me in the farm. You sound the alarm.<br \/>\nPoor me, the Israelite. Aah.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Even here at the Odyssey of the  Mind World Finals, I can hear &#8220;Doesn&#8217;t Make It Alright&#8221; coming down the hall as Tucker is turning his friends on the the music that Dekker took to the UK and that the UK took back to the USA.<\/p>\n<p><em>Poor me, the Israelite.<br \/>\nI wonder who I&#8217;m working for.<br \/>\nPoor me, Israelite,<br \/>\nI look a-down and out, sir.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s hoping I can get my LPs digitized soon, Tucker&#8217;s generation doesn&#8217;t have the patience for the LP format.
