{"id":1819,"date":"2007-01-15T17:50:01","date_gmt":"2007-01-15T22:50:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ibiblio.org\/pjones\/wordpress\/?p=1819"},"modified":"2007-01-16T10:30:32","modified_gmt":"2007-01-16T15:30:32","slug":"i-like-brussel-sprouts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/pjones\/blog\/i-like-brussel-sprouts\/","title":{"rendered":"I like Brussel Sprouts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Or is that<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brussels_sprout\"> brussels sprout<\/a> or &#8230; ?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/greenespace.blogspot.com\/2007\/01\/mlk-day-in-chapel-hill.html\">While Sally was celebrating the legacy and continued work of Martin Luther King, Jr.<\/a>, I was doing taxi duty all over town for our teen.<\/p>\n<p>The upside was that when we needed to grab a bite to eat we were very very close to one of this area&#8217;s best eateries, <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.citysearch.com\/map\/view\/35687180\">The Barbecue Joint<\/a>. The Joint is the only place where I have ever gotten brussel sprouts intentionally. Their sprouts are the best. Cooked with a lot of garlic and lean bacon and sliced into thin rounds and still crunchy. And you get a lot! That and a bowl of Brunswick stew (keeping with the place named food) made with wild boar and chicken. Not sure if the chicken was wild or not.<\/p>\n<p>Yummmm.<\/p>\n<p>Notables noticed at the Joint: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unc.edu\/~jeffbeam\/\">Poet Jeffery Beam<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theoldceremony.com\/\">Old Ceremonialist<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.djangohaskins.com\/\">Django Haskins<\/a> and pal.
