This weekend in the Salem (Mass) Gazette and the associated site, Wicked Local. In an article, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wickedlocal.com\/salem\/news\/lifestyle\/columnists\/x1059372894\">&#8220;Recalling Smith and Walker&#8221; <\/a>author and preservationist John Goff points us to the Nathaniel Hawthorne story, set in Salem, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/eldritch\/nh\/gchair.html\">&#8220;Grandfather&#8217;s Chair: A History for Youth&#8221;<\/a> Yes the story is on ibiblio in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/eldritch\/\">Eldritch<\/a> (yes <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eric_Eldred\">Eric Eldred&#8217;s Eldrich Press as in the Supreme Court case<\/a>) site.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unc.edu\/~jeffbeam\/\">Jeffery Beam<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluebluerbooks.com\/\">Josh Hockensmith<\/a> began what will be an irregular reading  series in Chatham County at Josh&#8217;s house this Saturday. It&#8217;s always a pleasure to hear Jeffery, who began his presentation by singing a Neil Young song and then took us back into time to some of the first of his published poems some I heard almost 30 years ago. Josh&#8217;s poems were varied in style including his personal poetic movement Velocityism and poems as questions (influenced nicely by Pablo Neruda&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poemhunter.com\/poem\/from-the-book-of-questions\/\">Book of Questions<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Sally explained <a href=\"http:\/\/townhall.townofchapelhill.org\/homelessness\/plan\/\">Orange County&#8217;s 10 Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness<\/a> at <a href=\"http:\/\/stmatthewshillsborough.org\/index.cgi\">our church<\/a> this morning. She of course emphasized the humanity of the project, but also presented evidence of considerable economic benefits resulting from the plan.<\/p>\n<p>Met with the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogtogether.org\/\">BlogTogether<\/a> brain trust to talk about the possible follow ups to the <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.scienceblogging.com\/scienceblogging\/\">Science Blogging Conference<\/a>. The conference was much loved despite the light dust of snow in the afternoon. Yes we have other ideas in the cooker.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/business\/story\/920290.html\"><br \/>\nLocal CEOs who blog<\/a> made the News and Observer today. Included <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/business\/story\/920286.html\">in the sample entries<\/a> are iContact&#8217;s <a href=\"ryanallis.com\/blog\">Ryan Allis<\/a> and CED&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/ the-monica-chronicle.near-time.net\/news\">Monica Doss<\/a>. Monica has a great story of sharing the wonderful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&#038;ct=res&#038;cd=1&#038;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DImfDX4S75pM&#038;ei=DYCmR-ziEp60edSEwPkC&#038;usg=AFQjCNF6UCWyUB_9CDUGtHXm7snEbJtbsg&#038;sig2=3vrSPRJWMskyIDuhbTqk9Q\">It&#8217;s Carrboro video<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/creativeclass.com\/\">Richard Florida<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Florida&#8217;s reaction according to Doss: <em>He was &#8212; to put it mildly &#8212; awestruck: &#8220;In a word it is amazing.
