It was played <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/State_of_the_Union_%28play%29\">close to the 1946 original<\/a>. I ran down to pick up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0040834\/\">a copy of the 1948 movie version directed by Frank Capra with Tracy, Hepburn, Lansbury, Johnson and company<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Now as I check <a href=\"http:\/\/politics.slashdot.org\/article.pl?sid=08\/02\/15\/1432200\">the RSS from Slashdot<\/a>, I see that <a href=\"http:\/\/lessig.org\/blog\/\">Larry Lessig<\/a> could be up for a version of the Spencer Tracy role as a congressional version of Grant Matthews. <a href=\"http:\/\/unc.facebook.com\/group.php?gid=13417986140&#038;ref=nf\">Facebook &#8220;Draft Lessig for Congress.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Will Larry be like Grant, who ends up saying he will work from the outside of the process, or like Capra&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0031679\/\">Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)&#8221;<\/a>  taking on corruption face-to-face?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/draftlessig.org\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/draftlessig.org\/outreach\/draft-lessig-260x78.jpg\" alt=\"draft lessig\" style=\"border: 0;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We saw the Deep Dish performance of State of the Union last night.
